UV DTF Cup Wraps & Tumbler Wraps

A UV DTF cup wrap is a permanent, waterproof decal that covers the curved face of a tumbler, glass or bottle in one piece. It needs no heat press, no oven and no tools beyond something to burnish with. You peel it, stick it, rub it down and remove the carrier film. The design bonds to the surface and stays there.

Why UV DTF Instead of Vinyl or Sublimation

Cut vinyl limits you to solid colours and needs weeding, which gets painful fast on detailed artwork. Sublimation on drinkware requires a polymer-coated blank and a convection oven or tumbler press, so it will not work on stainless steel or glass you already own. UV DTF prints full colour with gradients and fine detail, cures under UV light at our end, and bonds to surfaces that neither of the other two can touch.

It also does not care what the blank is made of. If the surface is smooth, clean and rigid, a wrap will stick to it.

How to Apply a Cup Wrap

  1. Wipe the cup with rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely. Any oil from your hands will stop the adhesive bonding.
  2. Peel away the backing film to expose the adhesive side.
  3. Line the wrap up against the cup and tack down the centre first.
  4. Work outward with a squeegee or credit card, pushing air bubbles toward the edge as you go.
  5. Peel the top carrier film back slowly at a sharp angle. If any of the design lifts with it, lay it back down, burnish again, and continue.
  6. Let the adhesive cure for 24 to 48 hours before it meets water.

That cure window is the step people skip. The bond keeps strengthening after application, and washing too early is the most common cause of an edge lifting later.

Durability

Applied and cured properly, wraps are waterproof and scratch resistant, and the inks resist UV fading so they hold colour in sunlight. They are rated to survive dishwasher cycles, though hand washing drinkware will always extend the life of a wrap, particularly around the edges.

Do I need a heat press for UV DTF cup wraps?

No. UV DTF is cured before it ships, so application is entirely mechanical: peel, stick and burnish. No heat at any stage.

Will a wrap fit a tapered tumbler?

Yes, with care. Size the artwork to the surface you are covering and apply from the centre outward so the film can ease around the taper rather than wrinkling.

Are they dishwasher safe?

They are rated for dishwasher use once fully cured, but hand washing meaningfully extends their life. Either way, wait 24 to 48 hours after applying before the first wash.

Can I put them on a cup I already own?

Yes, which is the main advantage over sublimation. No special coating or blank is required, only a smooth, clean, rigid surface.

What is the difference between a cup wrap and a UV DTF sticker?

Only the size and shape. Both are the same material and process. A wrap is simply a decal cut large enough to cover the face of a cup in one piece instead of sitting on it as a small badge.
